RollingStone ICE Article 03-04-2026

Rolling Stone Magazine – March 4th, 2026

Ice Comes to the American Heartland

Thank you to Rolling Stone for publishing a remarkable profile on the inhumane tactics of ICE in Minnesota’s suburbs — and the incredible ways Minnesotans in Shakopee (including our State Representative Brad Tabke HD54A) have stood up to protect our communities.

From our DFL CD2 Chair, Jim Hepworth:
See the chart to the left for the CD2 DFL Preference Straw Poll results with totals by organizing unit, total votes and overall percentages. It is important to remember this is a snapshot in time by attendees to DFL precinct caucuses in the Second Congressional District and is a reflection of those casting ballots. Not everyone that attended caucuses chose to fill out a ballot or had left early. This was a voluntary choice that over 3400 attendees decided to participate in. This is not a reflection of the caucus participants that were elected to their respective Organizing Unit Conventions but an overall snapshot of the evening participants that chose to participate in this non-binding preference poll. This was an informal survey, not a scientific poll, that helped establish a baseline for candidates.

Precinct Caucuses – February 3rd, 2026

Thank You for Showing Up!

Press Release From the DFL (St. Paul):

Early reports from DFL officials indicate at least 30,000 in-person attendees from around the state gathered in classrooms, cafeterias, and gymnasiums for precinct caucuses. Minnesotans turned out for the DFL in strong numbers to participate in the grassroots democratic process, with standing room only, packed rooms, cars around the block, and lines out the door in caucus locations across Minnesota.

“Minnesotans turned out in historic numbers to exercise their democratic rights at precinct caucuses,” said DFL Party Chair Richard Carlbom. “Tonight is more proof that we will never stop fighting for our neighbors.”

“When Donald Trump and Minnesota Republicans bring harm and terror to our communities, we will resist. We show up for one another and defend the values that unite us. The Minnesotans who participated in caucuses tonight are the fuel of our grassroots engine and will drive us to historic victories this November.”

  1. Many caucus-goers said it was their first time attending, with a site in Eagan reporting more than 75% first-time attendees. [Our own SD52]
  2. Lyon County reported record attendance for a
non-presidential year, and Carver County reported lines just as long, if not longer, than when President Barack Obama ran in 2008.
  3. After caucuses started, one attendee in Fridley reported “a line of around 100 people still waiting to get in,” and in Fillmore County, a precinct site ran out of chairs due to high attendance.
  4. One caucus-goer said, “My precinct captain has been to every caucus in my district since 1996. He says there has never been this many people at our caucus event in those 30 years.”
  5. Another caucus site volunteer reported an estimated crowd of 500 people compared to their usual 40.

From DFL CD2: We appreciate everyone who showed up to participate in this exercise of grassroots democracy. What an outstanding night for the DFL!

American Obituary

Thank You, U2

930 Minneapolis
To desecrate domestic bliss
Three bullets blast, three babies kissed
Renee, the domestic terrorist???
What you can’t kill, can’t die
America will rise
Against the people of the lie

Streets of Minneapolis

Thank You, Bruce

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
Singing through the bloody mist
We’ll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst
Here in our home they killed and roamed
In the winter of ’26
We’ll remember the names of those who died
On the streets of Minneapolis

Our U.S. Representative

We are Represented by Angie Craig

Angie Craig won Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District in 2018 and flipped a district that was held by the GOP for 18 years. She has steadily increased her margin of victory in each election cycle and won in 2024 by over 13%. Angie is now running for the U.S. Senate to replace Tina Smith.

DFL CD2 will endorse a candidate to run for Angie’s seat at our convention on May 9th, 2026 in Burnsville. Four DFL candidates have announced they are running so far: Matt Klein, Matt Little, Kaela Berg, and Abdi Abdulle. For more information on all the candidates running from both parties, visit Ballotpedia.
